Ellie Goulding made her return to the pop charts with a Calvin Harris collaboration, "I Need Your Love." Featured as a bonus track on her sophomore effort, Halcyon, the single is more buoyant than most of the offerings on that record. Still, the song plays with the heavy electronic textures that Goulding continues to experiment with, and Harris' shimmering production suits the lusty lyrics. In fact, the DJ's work on "I Need Your Love" improves upon the smart choices he made with Rihanna's "We Found Love" because Goulding has written such a sturdy, complete track. The song was a welcome presence on summer radio (which was overstuffed with bummed-out and problematic tracks) because Goulding and Harris offered a single that feels like that hot season--passionate, empowering, and perfect for a sweaty night out dancing.
