From her upcoming album, Lights Out, Ingrid Michaelson's "Girls Chase Boys" works as a tight, catchy pop tune about romance. Though the singer/songwriter's gentle voice can beautifully flesh out a ballad, it's always satisfying to hear Michaelson have fun. Not to mention, she has a light touch with pop tunes, which manage to work their ear-worm qualities without beating the listener over the head. "Girls Chase Boys" sticks with you because of the "ah-ah-ah" in the chorus before the title phrase arrives. Not to mention, the production does not overpower the vocal, but allows the track's whispered sexiness to sizzle front and center. Thank goodness for good spring pop music.
