Single Review: Big Girls Cry by Sia

2014 is shaping up to be Sia's. Two days ago she released the third track, "Big Girls Cry," from her forthcoming album, 1000 Forms of Fear, and it's another stunner. Like "Chandelier" and "Eye of the Needle," the song works the ballad template. Sia has proven to be a master pop craftsman, and here that remains true. However, her vocal performance distinguishes her work. The worn edges in Sia's voice--particularly in her upper register--break through the smooth surface to create an emotional gravity for her music.  I'll be surprised if 1000 Forms of Fear  does not shape up to be the best pop record out this year.
