Single Review: All That by Carly Rae Jepsen

Over the weekend, Carly Rae Jepsen premiered a new song, "All That," from her forthcoming record on SNL (as well as performed her chipper single, "I Really Like You").  "All That" slows things down and shares a lot in common with Britney Spear's late 90s ballad "From the Bottom of My Broken Heart," though its synthesizer-heavy production would fit well on the Pretty in Pink soundtrack. The song is an interesting and successful intersection of Jepsen's two preoccupations: bubble-gum pop (albeit, a slow-groove permutation of that) and 80s textures. I have great hopes for her new record.
