Madonna's "Ghosttown" is an important single for her Rebel Heart period. It's an expertly crafted slice of pop with an excellent hook and perhaps her best potential hit from the record. Releasing "Ghosttown" also shows the diva taking the power ballad seriously again, and that is exciting news given that previous ballads like "Rain," "Take a Bow," and "Frozen" rank among the best singles in her career. Most importantly, it's just a great song. Madonna delivers a strong vocal, the verses are melodic, and the apocalyptic romance imagery ties her recent post-modern leanings with her softer, more emotive side. The song deserves lots of radio play; it deserves to be a hit. I hope it achieves that goal.
