Single Review: No Sleep by Janet Jackson and Good For You by Selena Gomez

Over the past week, we have had the arrival of two excellent low key dance tracks. If Madonna's "Bitch I'm Madonna" was the perfect tune to celebrate Pride and Marriage Equality this weekend, Janet Jackson's "No Sleep" and Selena Gomez's "Good For You" are perfect for the Monday after, laying in bed, watching movies, and drinking tea.

Let's start with Jackson's tune. At first, "No Sleep" appears like nothing special, but the melodies and hook sneak up on you. The high thread count production and Jackson's baby doll delivery help this strong writing sit front and center. She has not released a sexier song since 2001's All For You and this early track bodes well for her forthcoming untitled record.

Selena Gomez also favors intimacy and a slow-burning sexuality on her excellent new "Good for You." In the two years since she released her first solo record, Gomez has grown into an interesting dance pop artist. Following her snappy collab with Zedd, "I Want You to Know," this newest single says promising things about her future projects.

So, dear reader, put your feet up, steep some chamomile, and relax to these tunes.
