Four Singles to Rock Your Summer

Summer 2015 is turning out to be an excellent season for pop singles. In addition to great work by Madonna, Kacey Musgraves, Selena Gomez, Janet Jackson, and Miguel, we now have even more singles to keep us dancing, singing, and turning the up radio.

"Where Are U Now" by Skrillex, Diplo, and Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber is back and better than ever, contributing vocals to this crisp dance track by Diplo and Skrillex. Bieber gives a delicate performance that helps grant the single an important levity. It's a smart tune for his career and a great single for radio.

"Cool For Summer" by Demi Lovato

Sure, this song does share DNA with Katy Perry's "I Kissed a Girl," but it's a crunchy, dirty club anthem worth dancing to. Lovato reigns in her usually aggressive vocal and the tune feels like a lazy if messy party.

"Cheyenne' by Jason Derulo

Derulo has never been shy with his homages to Michael Jackson, and "Cheyenne" is no exception. Though it's part "Thriller," it also owes a lot to Kate Bush's "Hounds of Love." Could a tune receive a higher compliment?

"E MO TION" by Carly Rae Jepsen

I'm very excited for Carly Rae Jepsen's forthcoming album, and this teaser release of the title track is fuel for the fire. It's a gooey, emotive power ballad dripping with 80s synthesizers; it's heaven. (Also: don't forget her other great prerelease tracks here and here.)
